For the 1969 Plymouth production year, the company's goal was to build a back-to-the-basics muscle car.  Warner Brothers was paid a handsome sum for Plymouth to use the Raodrunner name. Performance was enhanced and anything that was not essential was left out of the design. The build was designed for some serious street driving and that may be the reason why so many of these models have survived.
