The Starliner was part of the Galaxie series and was to be a level above the Galaxie. The Starliner name was also used for Studebaker Starliner and the Lockheed L-1649A airplane. Actual production numbers are unknown as Ford included the Starliner with the Galaxie numbers. With the 1960s Jet Age design in mind, the Ford Starliner was distinct with its radical fastback, thin roof pillars, and aerodynamics. It was one of the most flamboyant designs that came out of the Dearborn factory. This model was offered for only two years and it is a classic car that still captivates classic car enthusiasts today.
This 60 Ford Starliner has been with the current owner for over 20 years. Before that, the car was in Nevada. This classic Ford is an example of a low-production vehicle as it has many factory options.
Exterior is Corinthian White and it is in excellent above average condition. All chrome, trim, and emblems are in excellent shape. The body is straight and solid. Doors close with ease and good fit.
The interior is the original color and pattern from 1960red seats with black inserts Seats were recovered. Door panels are original and are also red and black with a chrome trim that separates the two colors. The red carpet is new. The original headliner is white. The dash is red and so is the steering wheel. All trim and gauges are in very good shape.
The engine is the original 292 CID. It was rebuilt when the current owner purchased the car. The red paint on the valve covers is the original paint. An Edlebrock 4BBL was installed for more reliability.
Transmission is the original 3-speed automatic. It shifts very smoothly.
Both engine and transmission are original to this car.
Factory options include the original radio which still works, clock, power steering, back-up lights, full tinted glass, and a center emblem on the hood. The Air Conditioning was dealer installed back in the day, is period correct, and it still blows cold! Also, an AM/FM radio is under the dash.
In the trunk, you will see a new set of NOS front and rear bumper guards and the original air cleaner. Trunk pans and floor pans are very solid.
The owner just took this car for a 100-mile trip this past summer, and it drove with excellent performance. He is a mechanic and meticulously maintains his vehicles.
