The MG factory began producing special MGTDs known as the TD Mark II or the TD Competition Model. The car was basically a regular MG TD that featured some extra factory accessories and tuning equipment. The Mark II model had higher engine compression, bigger SU H4 carburetors, a stronger valve gear, and a better breathing induction.
The MG TD is a rare model and only 1710 were built between 1950 and 1953. Only 315 models had the MARK II badge on the bonnet. This MG is one of the last 315 models.
This is a beautiful Mark II Competition model that the owner has had for the last 40 years. Car had a body off restoration and all original MGTD parts were used. Exterior is Woodland Green (British Racing Green) and exhibits excellent paint, chrome, and trim. The top is new and the side panels are original.
The interior is biscuit leather and is in excellent new condition. Dash exhibits excellent wood grain with no marks or scratches. Instrument gauges are in very good condition. The TD interior offered more leg room and more comfortable seats.
Engine is the 4-clylinder in-line 1250 CC and is paired with the factory 4-speed synchromesh gearbox (2nd-4th gears). This car runs and drives with excellent performance and it is a lot of fun to drive!
This MGTD is in Michigan, but it is a South Carolina car and has remained there for the past 40 years until it was transported to a summer home in Michigan where it resides now. The owner recently had new brakes added, new brake fluid, and new wheel bearings. Car has always been garaged.
Car is available for viewing by appointment only.
